Minnesota River Station

Minnesota River Station

The Minnesota River Station consists of an electric generation plant and a distribution substation located in Chaska, Minnesota. The facility sits on seven acres approximately 500 feet from the Minnesota River. Two acres of tall-grass prairie surround the plant, substation, entrance and driveway, connecting the landscape with the surrounding Minnesota River Valley.

The City of Chaska owns and financed the project, and MMPA manages the plant and purchases the electricity produced under long term contract. The plant runs during times of peak demand for electricity,  when purchasing energy from other sources is more expensive.
