MMPA Member Communities Represented at Annual Meeting

August 31, 2015

Representatives of the 12 member municipal utilities of the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA), attended the organization’s annual meeting in Le Sueur in July. MMPA is the wholesale power supplier to its member utilities.

The meeting covered several items relevant to member utilities:

  • Electric generation and transmission plans for MMPA to serve its mission of providing member communities with reliable, competitively priced power.
  • Reporting of financial results for the most recent fiscal year.
  • Sharing recognition from energy industry publication POWER Magazine, which named MMPA’s Hometown BioEnergy anaerobic digestion facility in Le Sueur as “2014 Renewable Top Plant.”

Attendees, including elected city officials and staff from member communities, toured the Hometown BioEnergy plant to learn how agricultural and food processing waste is converted into biogas, which is burned to generate electricity for the City of Le Sueur and MMPA’s renewable energy portfolio.
